"Battling cancer." It's getting on my nerves. Every day there's an obituary of someone who died after an long battle with cancer. The cancer didn't win, because when the rest of the body dies, SO DO THE CANCER CELLS.
I don't know why that term irritates me so much, but it does.
Right. We women never say, "gals." If anything, it's very dated and I don't think I've ever heard it except in old movies.
I don't think there's a good word to describe a group of women or even a mixed group. So we say, "hey, guys." To me, "guy, meaning a man, is outdated. It's like the old musical, "Guys and Dolls." "Guy" literally meant a man. We don't like to be called "dolls" either. How times have changed!
The new one that I've come to hate is "This is the world we live in."
Such a defeatist, and submissive motto. Comes up in conversations regarding airport security, arrests over trivial matters, all around doom and gloom.
Me: "Really? Doesn't your statement imply that you currently care to some extent? Tell me, just how much less could you care?"
Amen. I'll rep you.

^^ used by stupid hipsters, and those into food that desperately want to sound or be cool. Unacceptable.
