I hate the sound of "bunch" but I use it all the time. "There's a whole bunch of crumbs on the floor."
I hate the sound of "meet" when used in sports, like "track meet" or "gymnastics meet."
I hate the sound of "trump" and it's now magnified by President Trump being in the news every day (and no, it's not because he's president. I have no problem with him.)
I hate the sound of "pack" in anything it's used for.
I hate "pee" as in urine. I try really hard to say, "I need to go to the bathroom" even though it's freaking long.
I hate the sound of "pissed" in anything it's used for, "pissed off," "take a ****." Though I've grudgingly used it because it really did describe the feeling of anger perfectly.
I hate when people use the word spoil when they really mean special. As in " I'm going to spoil my grandchildren rotten" What they really mean, more or less is " I want my grandchild to feel that they are special to me." When people use the term spoiled rotten regarding others, all I can imagine is a dead, decaying body.

Inadvertently, that usage might actually make sense--IMHO.
I can tell you--based on my 40 years as a high school educator--that when children are overly indulged by their parents and/or grandparents, they frequently develop attitudes that are... not productive. When a person is given something--without earning it--there is a strong tendency to be careless with that item. (If I destroy/lose/damage it, "they" will give me a new one! )
So, in a sense, by showering children with material things that they have not earned as a result of their deeds, a parent or grandparent may actually be "spoiling" the behavior/attitudes of those kids, and that can have very negative consequences for their future.
