What does this phrase/figure of speech mean?
Someone just said this - "I gave her a chicken slap because she was being cute."
He was referring to a dream he had about a cat.
I looked up the definition. First thing that popped up was the Urban Dictionary definition. Somehow I don't think he means that he slapped the cat's genital area... lol

Never heard the phrase "chicken slap" in my life. Is that supposed to be some kind of euphemism for a less politically correct phrasing?

I don't know, Fred. *sigh*
I guess it'll remain a mystery what he really did to that cat in his dream.
It's not someone I know very well so I can't ask.

I've never heard of a "chicken slap" and got the same look up results ! However, there's an old time term for pimp that my great-uncle used to use: "chicken slapper." It's entirely possible that someone was attempting to reframe the phrase "pimp-slap" and waas entirely unaware of it's meanig.

I've never heard of it, either.
I had pet chickens once. I don't remember them slapping.

Guessing - maybe it could refer to a chicken wingtip? If a cat is being cute and you want to reward it, a chicken wingtip isn't something most people care for, but a cat would like. Since it is the "hand", it might be called a slap.
The only other thing I can think of is from vaudeville and the rubber chickens that were around, perhaps to slap the fall guy?

No, but we put them on the top bar of the swing set and pushed them off to see if they could really fly. Hey they're birds, aren't they? And they have wings, don't they? We were very logical children conducting a scientific experiment.
They just flapped their wings enough to break their fall and then ran away from us when they landed.

You are going to have to bite the bullet and ask him. It's gone too far and none of us here know.
