This scenario is nearly as old as the hills. A leader, whether employer, preacher, teacher, elected official etc. lays down a principle or rule and demands that the little people adhere to it. But of course exempts themselves. For example a boss demands perfect honesty from underlings, even firing people when they are caught in a lie, but said boss tells more fibs than Pinocchio. Or Congress imposes a law on the great unwashed, while exempting themselves and their staff:

I've searched for a word to describe this scenario. I thought of 'hypocrisy,' 'imperiousness,' 'arrogance,' but nothing really fits the bill. Anyone out there have a better idea? Thanks in advance.
