I have heard that Wyoming has a shortage of women. Like 4 guys to every one woman? Wow that is something. So are all the ladies rushing to catch their perspective husband? Any opinions?

its more like 51 guys to 49 women...I dont remember exactly but its one of those things that is greatly exaggerated.Someone had an article about it linked here about a year ago listing about 10 states with more men than women...but it wasn't a huge spread in any of the states listed.

You'll often find lop-sided percentages of men in boom towns for awhile as they migrate for jobs in the drilling, mining and construction fields. These are often high paying jobs that require hard, dangerous, manual labor and long hours. Most are filled with younger men.

Even then, it's never anything like 4-1, although that might be sometimes be possible if you're considering only singles. But that's rare. Only a very few towns in Wyoming have experienced that kind of sudden growth in the last few decades -- Gillette, Green River, Pinedale maybe, but only for a few years in each.

I respectfully disagree and will get the data to prove it.

I lived in Jackson, Cody and Worland.

Didn't marry until I was 37, and only then had to travel to Colorado to find a bride!!!

Cody
Males: 4,432 (47.6%)
Females: 4,877 (52.4%)

Jackson
Males: 5,076 (54.0%)
Females: 4,321 (46.0%)

Woreland
Males: 2,391 (48.1%)
Females: 2,579 (51.9%)

I even checked the towns that are primarily construction type towns like Wright.
Males: 847 (52.9%)
Females: 757 (47.1%)

None that I can find. Not even close to those numbers.

I think what you were told about is when a new gas rig moves in or when the methane fields were installed there were boom towns/man camps set up to handle the massive influx of people of which were aobut 99% men. But most of those went away, of if in towns the wives and family's caught up when housing was available.

So the numbers were slewed but it was for very short periods of time.
