janb is correct - Sheridan is beautiful. One thing about using your horses to move cows though - your horses should be used to cows before trying this, they shouldn't spook at much either. I have seen diasters happen several times with horses being used to move or work cows and they just don't know how to react to the whole business. Any foals born on our place are around cows from birth and are trained early. Some horses are just more "cowy" than others.

Our horses are better suited as trail/arena horses. I guess our horses are citified
I don't think we are that cowboyed up either I will look into Sheridan. In fact I think that was a city on my list. Looking at just pics from City-Data, I also fell in love with Cody. |

oops, I forget about that, and the fact that it is good to be able to anticipate when a good cutting horse will sense something you don't...(hey, wait a just a minute, I thought we were going left...) i.e. Hang on...and be nimble, or stiffen up and be very sore...
jnvette, I think you need to do some 'browsing' there are some great pics of the bighorns online. Cody is getting a bit like Jackson, tho there are still a few Wyo folks left...United Airlines has been running some cheap specials to Cody (but rental cars are way steep!!!) and you would have to get through Denver Airport...(i.e. Kansas )not sure on the weather, as they are both somewhat sheltered by being on the east side of a range, I think Sheridan will get more wind, (more exposure) but you would like to pick out a spot nestled up against the hills anyway. Dayton is not too shabby. |

It's definitely time for a road trip. Maybe during the kids' Easter break.

I Grew Up In Wheatland. It Is A Great Place To Live. But Jobs That Pay Well Are Hard To Come By. The Power Plant Does Hire A Few But It Is Mostly A Farming Community. The Wind Does Blow More Than Normal But You Get Use To It. Land And Housing Prices Are Higher Than Places Like Kansas Or Nebraska But The Hunting, Fishing, Taxes, And View Are Much Better In Wyoming. Sheridan Is Also A Very Nice Town. It Sits Snug Up Against The Big Horn Range, Has More To Offer In Shopping And Employment Than Wheatland, And Is Only 1.5 Hrs From Billings Mt.
