WindRiver is on a distinguished road
I apologize for sounding so negative about Evanston. The reason I stay is because my parents are here and I help them. Evanston's economy does not include a middle class any more. It's "welfare or wealth". It's oilfield or McDonald's; feast or famine; bust or boom. With its proximity to Salt Lake City (75 miles), Evanston growth hasn't followed a path of the self-sufficient (for lack of a better description), therefore there isn't a solid infrastructure or base. When the uranium mines shut down, Riverton, Wyoming devoted a lot of their resources into keeping what they had and growing. People used to drive 120 miles to Casper to shop. Now, Casper drives to Riverton. New houses in Evanston of which there were less than 10 built last year start at $189,000. The small, 2-bdrm converted boxcar without a foundation is $75,000. My degree is in Business Information Systems and I am 100% against decisions in government and education determined by anyone's religious beliefs. Again, accept my apology.

Nothing to apologize for Wind, it's all true. They resist change here. Bring in a good restaurant and ... zippp ... it's gone. Bring in a Cruddo's fast-food and it'll last forever. I'm leaving - been here over a dozen years. Now, this is not to say you can't have a life here or can't enjoy yourself because you can - it just depends how things go. I know plenty of folks who love it here but I never intended to move here in the first place. Still, y'know, Wind, every time I come back across the border from Utah, my entire soul let's out a sigh of "Thank God"! Not to slight Utah (I save those dittys for the bar) but Wyoming is better - even Evanston!
