DemonicAngel - I grew up in Wyo and then lived in Michigan during college years. I've been back here for almost 30 yrs and lived in Sheridan and Torrington/Lingle area. I'm an RN and worked in hospitals, home health and as college Health Service. My husband has been a high school teacher and then counselor for all of his professional career in the Torrington are. I worked with gay students at the college level and he certainly has worked with gay students and issues surrounding bullying etc.

I would contact the Rainbow Coalition and school counselors to get a better feel for what's going on with teen gay issues v/s community views about being gay in Wyo . It can be a big eye-opener for many people when they learn more about "the real story" surrounding this issue. I don't know if you are coming from a city background but all the usual culture shock stuff experienced by many people will probably be intensified for her and you. Do your homework about this, try social networking with others that have been there done that. Good luck.

It really is a shame how the Mathew Shepard incident was manipulated by the media to potray it as a hate crime. Anyone who knows the real story can see it for what it really was. A drug induced robbery and assualt.

I think Wyoming people are very accepting compared to many areas in the U.S. I find places like New England to be much more judgemental than the people out west. I live by one rule here in Wyoming: Don't try and change my culture and I won't try and change yours. We can all get along without projecting our beliefs and values on one another.

The trouble is that part of the liberal culture in this country has a psychotic hatred and fear of other cultures requiring that the liberal work to destroy those cultures. I'm referring to conservative and libertarian cultures. They've grabbed the most outrageous demands as well as the most outrageous people in the homosexual culture simply because they see them as weapons in their crusade. Sadly, they've left our traditional world in shambles.

In fairness, not all homosexuals are prepared to welcome this change. I have a homosexual client in a midwestern state who's a successful businessman and conservative Republican. He doesn't want to marry another man nor does he wish to see children grow up with two mothers or two fathers. He considers the latter to be a hideous perversion that can only harm a child. I respect this man and I Wouldn't be concerned if he lived near me. But that doesn't mean I'd welcome people whose public behavior is disgusting and who wish to destroy my pleasant world in Wyoming.

Liberals are the problem as it seems they always are. They live to destroy us.

Since people can't determine when threads are 6 years old, and have now decided they don't like posts, I'll just close the thread.
