Default Oil Jobs in Laramie County?

So, there's been talk all over the news about all of this oil sitting under us in Laramie County. Big news about the companies coming in, drilling, etc. But, I don't see any jobs in the usual places for these companies. I've been watching the Cheyenne Paper and WyomingAtWork. Does anyone know where all the job listings are?

Few, if any, new local jobs are resulting from all the Laramie county area activity at this time.

I've visited with the exploration crews, and they are all from out of state here on work assignments.

The landman crews are from out of the area.

The drilling crews are pretty much from out of the area, as are the welders and other trades people.

The water truck drivers are from out of the area.

I've seen only a few help wanted ads in the CT-E, and they were for truck drivers with experience.

My neighbor, who is a certified weldor ... applied for a job, and all they had for him was an independent contract welding job in North Dakota at $95/hour. As an independent business contractor (not an employee), he had to supply his own complete welding rig truck and all the consumables ... rod, wire, gas, fuel for the arc welder, etc, ... they anticipated he'd be busy for the next 24 months. But it would have meant locating a suitable trailer for living quarters and staying there for many weeks on end between short visits home ... additional expenses which wouldn't work for him.

What Sunsprit mentioned seems like a sad but true story. It seems that for some reason Wyoming has been doing this. We have construction going on in Sheridan being performed by out of area crews.

It appears that mot company's bring their core crews, welders, pipe fitters, rig hands and such with them. They only hire for water truck drivers and such but they have to be experienced. That way the core crew doesn't have to waste time training people. They have found that giving their core crew an outlandish deal they can keep them and don't have to train anybody. The people take better care of their equipment because they are long term. Saves them money. Kind of sucks for Wyoming folks wanting to put food on their table.

Couldn't sum it up better. It's weird that we can ship Wyoming people to North Dakota to the rigs and such, but not employ them here. But, it is what it is.
