Default Help!

Hello!
I need help in searching!
I am living in Louisiana and recently devorced
I am ready to get away from all the big city hassels. What I am looking for is a small town of 500 or less nestled in a mountainoues, or hilly area, with a larger town within 30 or 40 miles, in which I may find work.
I guess what I am looking for is seclusion with the ability to find part time work.

I just want to get away!!
If anyone knows such a town, please respond!

Thanks!
Bill

It's a pretty big leap from the weather of LA to the weather of Wyoming. But if you think you can put up with the cold, here's some suggestions.

Banner, Story, Ranchester, Dayton Wyoming are all close to Sheridan Wyoming. Sherida is a town of 15,000.

Centennial is gorgeous, we plan to retire there. But, you may not be aware of the wind that we have up here. Working in Laramie from Centennial may not be a great plan in the winter months. They do keep the road pretty good but you could end up spending a few nights in Laramie due to white outs, or you could get stuck at a home a few times. You'd definately want someone to teach you how to drive in the snow. If you are an easy going, whatever happens, happens type person, this could work for you.

Just a side note about Centennial.

A little town called Riverside is about 25 miles from there. Riverside is famous for having the coldest recorded temperature in the State. minus 66 degrees. No, that's not windchill. It's straight temperature.

Coldest UNRECORDED temp in state. Was in 1978 Febuary.I think the 17 or 18th. At 5:45 in the AM. It was 73 Degrees Below Zero. Present were morning tower of Manning rig 9 or 29 (been long time ago), a hailburton Cement crew from Rocksprings, Me working for Lamb Casing service, the toolpusher, geologist, company man for Davis oil Company. The site was south of Wamsutter below, to the southwest.
You could throw a cup of hot coffee in the air. And before it hit the ground. It looked like snow coming down. Anything with a engine was left running so we didn't have it freezing up on us.
Someone had got a thremometer from a company that supplied the north slope of alaska with equipment. We had been experiencing cold temps with and without wind. But had no thermometer that would go below minus fifty or sixty. We bottomed them out. They had this one flown in overnight and we watched it. For days to see the coldest temp. We all signed a piece of paper to attest witnessing this. I do remember it getting on the radio at Rocksprings.
No wind either. Some things you never forget. That was one of the most miserable six days of my life.
While I blowing my horn. Hottest I ever worked in was in El Centro, California in 1989. I do a specialized Carbide welding in the oilfield also. I was at a rigsite and was doing it there instead of the shop. I was acutally pouring the sweat out of my steel toed work boots and would get a coffee cup or alittle more out of each boot. When I did it. The tempurature NOT in the area where I was welding was 121 above. The thermometer was set about three feet from me. I registered 159 degrees!
The people at the rigsite never put anything metal in the sun during the hot part ot the day. It would leave blistering burns in just minutes on your hands when you picked them up. You also didn't do any work without being in pairs incase someone went down with sunstroke.
