Today, we got a new resident.
Today, a plane landed in North Carolina. When the door opened, the people waiting for their plane starte applauding. This yound marine wasn't sure what it was all about. But he proudly walked through the group and shook hands with those that offered. He was loudly applauded until he was out of site.
Yeah. My son come home from 14 months in Iraq. Two purple hearts and he's now with his wife. A couple of weeks to clean up things in NC and then he's headed for the Big Horns of Wyoming.
Thank you lord for bringing him home to me. Can you look out for the rest of the troups and bring them home as well?

Happy for you and your son!
Glad to hear your son is home safely. So many aren't making it back... My daughter is only 7 and I can't even imagine the fear and anxiety of having my child (no matter what age they're still your babies) going into a war or hostile area.
My heart and prayers go out to all those still waiting for the return of their loved ones.

Well, it was with mixed emotion. When I was 20 I joined up. My dad was fearful. I said, "Hey, we have the best weapons, the best training, I'll be fine." Little did I know that several years later my son come to me and said, "Dad, I joined the Marines, I'll be fine, we have the best weapons, the best training, don't worry." It was a little harder to take when he said it. I fought in Viet Nam, Liberia, Iran, Granada, Panama, Iran again, Lybia, and Desert storm. Never worried about what I was doing, always thought I was doing what was right. I came home. Not unscathed. But I come home. Now, it means a little something different to me. My dad was in WWII. He come home and I really loved his war storys. I didn't realize how bad they were until I was there. And now, I know the next generation.

As the daughter of a WW II/Korean War veteran, I'd like to pass on to your son my gratitude to him for his service to our country. The sacrifice made by the men and women of our armed forces to often goes unappreciated. My father's service taught me a healthy respect for those in uniform.
God bless and keep each and every one.
