I heard there is a road between Rock Springs and Green River. I just moved here about 3 - 4weeks ago. Rentals are insane. At least, finding good ones. Have a cat, forget about it! lol. We have cats and tried finding a place, almost impossible to find anything half decent. We finally got a place, but it is 950 a month for a 2 bedroom and the owners don't even maintain it. We had to pay them an extra five hundred just to accept our cats.

There is a road between Rock Springs and Green River, but it isn't maintained, and not drivable in the winter. Wouldn't recommend it if you are in anything low to the ground either. We drove over it in a little Dodge Dakota one day and it was a very rough ride, half the time we didn't know if we were on the road, and we scraped bottom a few times. But it is a road. Last time I was in Green River, it seemed they were doing some work on the road. It comes out behind the cemetery.
And yes, in Rock Springs, rents are high even for a 2 bedroom. Green River is a little bit more reasonable for rent. Your best bet, to find a mobile home that is relatively cheap to buy and pick it up. And cheap in Rock Springs is about $15,000.

imbobbbb, I was a bit confused as well, but since they asked if there was a road, instead of saying is there an Interstate or Highway, I just assumed they might be talking about a frontage or service road.

I-80 runs between Green River and Rock Springs, but during the winter months it is common for the road to be shut down during a storm, or to stay shut down for a few days. There is a frontage road as well that is not maintained.
If you live in Rock Springs, you will pay alot to have an apartment. There aren't many rental units available and that keeps rents high. Green River is not much cheaper in the way of rent. And the buy into the real estate market, the prices are overinflated due to the economy of Rock Springs.

Just like anywhere in Wyo - in the winter (and esp. along I-80 or I-25) there are NO guarantees that you will be able to get TO work or get back home. Storms move in FAST down there.

Kemmerer is friendly tho not much to do for the kids except explore. But a great bluegrass festival (Oyster Ridge Bluegrass Festival) every summer in Triangle Park. My son lived there for a few years & is tolerable but yeah - need to try to do your major grocery shopping in Evanston at Walmart or something. And is a great meat market somewhere before getting to Evanston where he would get his meat he didn't hunt.

Is an old town - a lot of houses needing a LOT of TLC if you are looking to buy - check foundations & other things CLOSE. Best part about Kemmerer? Hardly EVER sees 80 degrees because is at 7000 feet in elevation & Oyster Ridge blocks the sun a good part of the day. I can live with that easy!!!

I would consider other towns closer to Rock Springs tho - that hwy from Kemmerer down to RS or Evanston can be wicked in the winter - when it is open. I'd think about GR, Lyman or Bridger. Maybe Fargo...but for kids would be REALLY boring.

So, now I am looking for on behalf of a friend in Rock Springs. His wife left him, and he is looking to move to Kemmerer and is in search of friends. Since I am normally shy, I don't know much of how to help him. Any suggestions from my fellow Kemmererites??

Smile Help you all out With kemmerer

I have lived in Kemmer my whole life except the 3 years I went to college. I know work at the local mine and can tell you pretty much everyhting about this town. THe school is okay the high school has some flaws many of the kids today walk down the halls with chech in their mouth nothings done. THe local store here is high alco is cheap and so are many of their items such as shoes and clothing. We do have the 1st JC penny store anfd house. The house is by the senicor senior and we do have restruants. The ones you wan to eat at that are the best are the chinse restraunt by the triangle park and the other one down by the gold course called hasmfork. My aunt owns sinclar so I should tell you go their but if you want the cheapest gas buy it in evanston. It's always 20 cents cheaper. If any you have any questions I can try answer them I am 24 and have been to sll the schools here so can pretty much tell you all about the sports and teachers. Just ask I am not shy to answer you and can tell you the scum of kemmer a swell and who to watch out for. Any help need can help you out as much as I can.
