lol...good luck with the search. I've been looking for a place to rent for a while up there and, well...there just ain't anything around. I was looking in Gillette and Buffalo (30 mins out of Sheridan). Gillette has nothing for rent that you're looking for. Nothing. Buffalo had one 3bdr, 2ba home on roughly 2 acres available for rent/sale, but she wanted $1500 a month plus $1500 deposit and the house was going to stay on the market while we lived in it. That meant that she could call me up and tell me I had to leave the house so that she could show it to a potential buyer, and if it sold I'd have 30 days to move out. That's not any way to live with a wife and 2 kids. Granted, it was probably the best deal for a rental home but then again it has been the ONLY deal for a rental since May. Seriously. I checked the archived editions of the town newspaper and that is the only rental property that's been advertised since May. Perhaps you could talk a seller into renting out their home to you instead of selling? Who knows. I finally decided to just buy a house in Buffalo. I'm starting work there soon and refuse to keep my family in a hotel for weeks until I can find a place to stay. This is just the way the housing market is right now in that state. Sorry for the grim news, but better for you to find out now than get all the way there and then find out. I didn't search for anything in Sheridan, but if the housing/rental market is the same in Buffalo as it is in Gillette...I would expect Sheridan is the same since it is also primarily an energy industry town and is currently booming like the others.
Oh, and I did all my house hunting from Texas also. Except for one visit this past weekend to look at the house and put in the offer. I offered their asking price since during the past year all the homes on that street have been selling for asking price and on up to 20% higher.
