What is it with people?
What is it with people and good manners? I'm talking about the annoying habit of speaking through cellphones extremely loud as if everyone by their side would be interested in what they're talking about or like they do want everyone to notice them. I consider it rude. Is it me, am I becoming too intolerant, or everyone feels the same way?

I guess I don't see a difference in talking on your cell phone or having a conversation with someone standing right next to you. Maybe you're just irritated because you can't hear the other end of the conversation? We're all so nosy....

I wasn't sniping at you, it's hard to determine that on the net sometimes I know. I was including myself in the nosy thing, it's just how we people are.

I've traveled a lot and as such have had several cell phones. I have to be careful. I switched services one time and my daughter said, "Why are you always shouting?" Didn't realize I was because the last cell service I had to shout for people to hear me.
So This might be the problem. Now, I have a cell service that is great. Except, I have to hold the phone an inch from my ear, because it's too loud. But if I adjust the volume, by one click, I can't hear them, but it still seems like I'm shouting. hahahahahah
Just got to get used to the phone and hope people will tell you whats going on so you can adjust.

I can't stand seeing anyone on a cell phone anymore exactly for the reasons you mention. Manners have flown out the window. Phones are ringing everywhere you go (in the most inappropriate places) and people are yacking away practically running in to you or driving you off the road. Just try to enjoy a meal out when the bozo behind you gets or makes a call and is so loud the people in the next county can here them. Yes, it IS rude in many cases. I do have a cell phone for emergencies and to let someone know if I'm broke down or late which remains off and in my purse. If I need to make a call I do it in privacy. I have no tolerance for rudeness either...

It is interesting when you travel internationally, then land in USA.
in Asia and Europe you travel in buses and subway, and walk through shopping and airport areas with lots of people talking on cell phones, and rarely is anyone talking loud enough to be a distraction. You arrive at USA and as soon as you get out of customs you get a full dose of the Yakkity Yak... I guess we are 'hearing impaired', or just not too considerate. Tho I will second the situation of poor service. Our USA provider is terrible.
