...the national weather service in cheyenne has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in wyoming...

Little snake river near savery affecting carbon county

significant snowmelt due to recent warm temperatures and rainfall has
increased river levels the past few days. As of this morning...the emergency
manager reported the river at bankfull with minor flooding in low lying areas.
A storm system moving into the region this week will bring moderate rain
and snowfall to the area which will likely cause additional rises in
the water levels wednesday through friday. The worst conditions are expected
between dixon and baggs. The water levels in the river will remain high through
june as additional water will be moving into the little snake river due
to snowmelt in the mountains of southeast wyoming.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Low-lying areas and secondary roads may be flooded. Do not walk...
Ride bicycles...or drive into areas where water covers the ground.

* at 1015 am tuesday the stage was 7.2 feet.
* flood stage is 7.5 feet.
* forecast...the river will be between 7.2 and 7.5 feet through the week.
* impact...at 7.0 feet...low lying flooding intensifies and becomes
more widespread downstream in the town of baggs. Flood wave travel
time to baggs is appx 8 hours. Minor low land agricultural flooding
becomes more widespread from savery to baggs.
* impact...at 6.5 feet...bankfull stage. Water over low lying areas
along right and left banks. Minor flooding expected downstream in
the town of baggs. Peak flow travel time to baggs is appx 8 hours.
River may come out of its banks from savery to baggs.
* flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 7.1 feet
on may 22 2008.

wyoming...sheridan.

* through sunday afternoon

* between 2 to 4 inches of rainfall will be possible with this
storm system. Locally higher amounts are possible...
Particularly along the northeast slopes of the beartooth and
big horn mountains.

* streams and creeks will rise quickly under areas of heavy
rain. Rainfall over the northeast facing slopes of the
beartooth... Absaroka...crazy and big horn mountains could
result in rapid rises on area rivers. Residents near streams
and rivers should remain alert for possible flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for
possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding

Northwestern sheridan county in north central wyoming...

* until 900 am mdt monday

recent heavy rain has caused area streams and creeks to rise and
exceed bankfull in places. Small streams and creeks around dayton
were reported to be flooding. Tributaries flowing into the tongue
river were causing the tongue river near dayton to rise as well.
Flooding will continue on area streams and creeks in northwest
sheridan county this weekend as additional rain saturday will keep
water levels very high. Residents living along smaller creeks in
northwest sheridan county should take precautions to protect their
property.

A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However...all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

To report flooding...have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the national weather service forecast office.

...thunderstorm activity today and tonight may produce locally
heavy rain. Since many places have saturated soils...any prolonged
heavy rain combined with snow melt mainly below 9500 feet...would
pose a threat for flooding and flash flooding.

.showers and thunderstorms will increase this afternoon and
evening. Some storms may produce 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short
period of time. This runoff into high running creeks and streams
could cause flooding.

absaroka mountains is melting. Heavy rain combined with snowmelt
may lead to potential flash flooding.

* rapidly rising waters may cause flash flooding of streams and
rivers flooding roads and threatening buildings close to rivers
and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
