hey everyone , since there is a thread on the wytex ranch i figured id start one on the western heartlands ranch . i know there are a few people on here that bought into the section and kind of hoping to maybe find some other people as well .

so if anyone that bought in the area would like to post please do !

Evening Ted,
We are interested in purchasing land in the Western Heartlands, did you go thru Rocky Mountain Timberlands? How deep did you have to drill for water? We were looking at some of the parcels in the "40's". Any suggestions? How long have you lived there? how much snow did you get?

hello

i did go through RMT it was a really easy process . i would take a trip there if your serious about it , i did see most parcels are listed in the 40's but the land is pretty much all the same , just maybe alittle different location and some are alittle cheaper i bought 2 parcels for 29k each ...

i heard from RMT a few weeks ago and was told they put a well in near my parcels at 160ft and getting good water quality at 12 gallons a minute .

i do not live out there yet . and most likely will not long term since my business is here in PA , but i am plaining on a small house in the next few years and im not sure what i want to do yet about the water , i may just do a septic and put in a holding tank for water for now .

as for snow i was told you wont get much . the bear tooths catch the majority of it , there is a chance you will get a few inches but not much .


there are a few others on here that bought into the WH , im going out there next week for a few days , ill get some pics and post them up for people not aware . im hoping there is also some snow on the mountains yet , most of the pics are summer pics .

That's fairly close to Byron, I remember talk on here once about the air quality issues around Byron. May be something to look into before buying there. The wind may blow it all the other direction but I know it's something I would investigate before I spent my money.

byron is over an hour away , towards the south east from this area ..... the WH is pretty much at the base of the bear tooths so im not sure if there would be any air quality issues , however if you look real close on the satellite map you will see some oil wells off to the east and south of the WH , which should not cuase any problems .


im interested if anyone else has heard this

Probably this one: Small towns outside of Cody

I recall when growing up in Lovell, whenever we drove through Byron to visit relatives Powell or Cody, we would usually comment on the smell. Smelled like oil fields, not sure if modern methods have reduced that smell or not. Its been a long time since I visited Byron.

Ted--Curious if you have any pictures of the area you'd be willing to share. My wife and I just started looking at retirement property on the net in Wyoming and we are beginning to fall in love with WH. Of course we'll take a trip out there and see for ourselves before we do anything but I'd be interested in hearing more about WH from someone thats already been there.
