I start mine in the house in styrofoam cups. Then as soon as I figure that it's done freezing, I move them outside. Course, I've been wrong more then once and end up having a late garden.

It's been since 2004 but in casper, we could get free compost from the land fill. One pickup load a day. Just show your trash bill stub. Bring a shovel and help if you can find it. You have to load it yourself.

I have grown them inside the greenhouse and out but inside I had much better crops. And they lasted longer. There are killer frosts so if you want to extend the season you have to protect things.
