As many of you know, we had some major flooding along the Tongue River this spring. For 3 weeks I had to wade in water to get to my vehicles. The River was way over the banks.

It's finally back to a decent level, not back to normal yet, but close. It's still running about a foot deeper then normal. The water is finally clearing up some.

So yesterday, in late afternoon, I grabbed some worms and went and gave it a try. I caught 1 brown and 2 rainbows in about 10 minutes. I spent more time baiting my hook with worms then I did reeling in fish. Used worms, cast upstream and then slowly brought it back to me. First cast brought in the brown. They are hungry. I released all 3 as I still have a half dozen in my freezer from last fall. All three of those fish were between 12-14 inches and full of fight. Kind of surprising to have trout fight like these did.

Elkhunter - I cut out your post for Tracy - she's very much going to want to go drown some worms with you next summer...

Glad you had a good day in the stream.

I caught a nice brookie up by Dead Swede on Friday. Liked him so much I traded him for the key to my wife's four-wheeler. I never did find that stupid key...

I'm sure those fish are starving, having to wait so long for the runoff to subside.

A guy I work with was out in the mountains in Washington State last weekend. He said there's still snow everywhere! Snowline at about 4500 feet in August.

We have snow up on top all year. But not down to 4500. That's all gone now. It went right past my cabin!

About 5 I realized I had forgotten to get anything out for supper. So I grabbed a couple or worms and went down to the river. Only caught one fish with the two worms, but it's about 13-14 inches long. I started the burner on the stove and then cleaned the fish. Rolled it in a little corn meal, added some spices and it should be ready in about 15 minutes.

Just wanted to say that with a baked potatoe, some steamed veggies and a couple of whole wheat dinner rolls, that trout hit the spot! hahaha

I still had some in the freezer but fresh sounded real good and turned out that I was right. haha
