I wouldn't live anywhere near Byron, I've heard too much about the air quality there due to some kind of plant. My husband says you can smell it way before you get to Byron.

Never noticed that about Byron but I know Lovell has a sugar refining plant that has quite a smell to it. Byron not being to far may get some of that also.

One place I have always thought was quite pretty is around Sundance. You are right on the edge of the Black Hills and they have some very pretty areas. Not sure what the real estate market is over there but it is not real far from Gillette so it may be quite high. It might be worth checking into. Another place I always thought was not to bad in Lander. And if you dont have to be real close to mountains Thermopolis is a quiet little community. Has a unique charm all of it own, with the hot springs and Wind River Canyon right there. Hope this give you some ideas. Good luck in your search.

Not only is Sundance way out of the area, but it's EXPENSIVE for land. Makes Cody look very reasonably priced.
With a major regional financial center in BelleFourch SD, Sundance has a lot of attractiveness ... it's remote, but it's accessible for your shopping and other needs.

Glad to know about the wind situation in Cody. I can scratch that off my short list Dealing with the fires and wind here in So Cal right now is driving me nuts The only thing I hate more than hot weather is wind.

If you can stand the rain look at the Portland area. Many great suburbs always green. Good housing market. Plenty of nice schools and communities.
