Default Looking into moving to Wyoming?

Greetings
I'm new, and this is my first post.

Am from Cottage Grove, Oregon, and have been thinking about moving to Casper, or Cheyenne, Wyoming. Worked in WY in 2009 and loved it.

My instinct keeps nagging me to move to there constantly. Then my fear kicks in that I'd be missing out on my family and friends here, and WY is so different than everything I know here.

When/If I move to Wyoming, I have no plans of going out there with a job offer. Since 2007 every job I've worked has been different. Inventory, manufacturing, housekeeping, and janitorial. Whatever to get by, and don't have a trade or skill.

Also tend to be easy going, and really don't like confrontation...
So would I have a hard time or easy time getting a job out there? And when would be the best time of the year to move out there to get a job?
Unemployment Rate reads 5.8%, really a nice change from our 9.6% rate lol.

How's the cost of living like? Do groceries, electricity, taxes, etc. keep going up like they do here?

Also, would I have a hard time finding a place to stay out there? It'd just be me lol.

What's the gay crowd like out there? Have been nervous for that subject also. Are people accepting of that in that part of the state? I had no problems with where I was at in Cody lol.

And the Cold winters, would they be really hard to get used to? Is there 4 seasons or is it like winter and then summer? lol. And also is it sunny during the winter?

Look forward to reading responses, and have a Great Day.
It's currently Raining as I'm writing this post, sry it's a bit long lol.

With it being a rainy day for you ... perhaps you might take the time to go through the many posts on all of the topics you're inquiring about on the Wyoming forum. All have been extensively discussed with many points of view presented.

Unskilled jobs are not as plentiful and available for the asking as they were years ago ... due to a sizable labor segment already here that's scratching to make a living and survive. The Labor Ready type workers are here in Cheyenne, for example, and they're seeking whatever hours they can get per week at a wage of around $7/hour. Unless they get a full week of work, it's a pretty tough go for many of them to keep a roof over their heads. I know a bunch of them that alternate between shared living situations to the cheapie motels on Lincolnway to stays at the COMEA House as their finances permit.

Only you can decide if the costs of living here and the minimal wage jobs income will allow you the lifestyle that you desire. The wages here are comparatively low to the housing/food and transportation expenses you'll have. While you can find towns with unskilled jobs available, the wages don't necessarily amount to enough to live in the available housing or meet the rest of your costs of living here, which is why those jobs are available.

Similarly, your adaptability to the winters here is strictly your own decision to make. For the most part, the climate and conditions here are pretty daunting to many acclimated to a riparian climate with more moderate temperatures and a big factor as to why so many people with a dream of a Wyoming life don't stay here very long ... I've watched a lot of folk move here, stay one winter ... and leave as quickly as possible, even if they were taking a financial loss to do so. Prime example ... one neighbor bought a 40 acre parcel nearby, drilled the well, built a house and invested over $250,000 into their Wyoming life. Their first winter here was not tolerable for them, and they moved back to Wisconsin (not especially known for mild winters, either) rather than deal with Wyoming winter. The property was put on the market for a quick sale to break even, and all they got was on offer to get them out of their mortgage of $135,000. They took it for a 6-figure loss to get away from here; IMO, they were rather motivated to leave Wyoming behind them.

Thank you, That's really funny and sad about the Wisconsin couple. You'd think that they'd be used to the cold and that it'd be warmer in Wyoming lol..
And thanks for the info about Unskilled jobs, that's what I was afraid of. Need to find a skill/trade then move there, would be much better off financially over there.
I remember when I worked over there I only made 7.25 also, but was still able to run around. Gas prices was cheaper making it doable, but being were I was lots of the towns closer by were somewhat more expensive lol. It's great to hear recent things about what's actually going on
