First of all, good morning on my side of the country....I'm so excited, i've been given a job offer to work in a correctional facility in Lusk, WY, and I'm excited, since I have family out that way, and I'm looking forward to this new chapter. But first, the salary is 40K a year, would that be enough to live in Lusk WY. Any input would be appreciated.

Congrats! Strictly on paper, you should be fine. Is it just you? If so, you should be sittin' pretty. Median home cost in Lusk is 110k.

thanks so much for the reply, yes, it would just be me when i checked the salary calculator, it had me making 2K plus change after taxes, since WY doesn't have a state tax, is that correct?

yes you are correct.. but you will have higher costs for car registration (which pays for roadways) but I would think 40k would be adequate... do you have housing lined up?

I would think that if you were to forward a copy of some of your employment papers from the state to potential landlords, you should be able to secure a place. Worse case scenario is that you stay in a motel for a time while you look, right? Or maybe stay with family for a little while?

Anyone one of you have any info on Lusk or on the Women's correctional facility....should I live in Lusk or just commute back and forth from Rawlings?
