I would suggest checking out Fort Laramie on the 4th of July. At the Fort Laramie National Historic Site they have alot of great activities on the 4th. They have period re-enactments such as cavalry formations and the Pony Express, and "old-time" games such as sack races, along with a fireworks display. We take our kids each year and they love it.

We visited the Cody/Yellowstone area last summer and had an amazing time! I too am a country girl and fell in love with the area. Please don't skip Yellowstone if you can help it. The only touristy spot we found was Old Faithful. Other than that it wasn't too crowded. Cody is an awesome town with more to do than we had time. As for the altitude, even without a medical condition it can be tough. It's very dry in Wyoming so add that to the altitude and you can dehydrate quickly. You can't drink enough water! Drink more water than you can stand and you'll probably get along just fine. Have a great time! I can't wait to get back to this great state! P.S. Always have your camera handy-you just won't believe how many amazing things you'll see!
