If it's like Jeffrey City they moved them somewhere else...

Seriously tho my point is that in the mid-70's Casper was growing fast and there was even talk about hitting 100,00 in a few years and thus becoming Wyoming first and only metro area. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I remember that. I was working for Kiewit and we put in I-90, I-25, etc. At the time Casper Boomed, I was in Gillette and it was booming also. To give you an idea, we were putting the bridge in over highway 59 for I-90. We would get up in the morning, and leave town to drive out to where I-90 crossed 59. Yeah, drive out of town to get there. Now look at it.

I lived in Gillette from 1975-1978 and I used to drive to Laramie for football and basketball games. I seem to remember there was a t-shirt that read...I survived Hwy 59....100 miles of total desolation except for a little store in Bill. One time the entire road was sheer ice and we couldn't drive more than 20mph without fishtailing in 4wd. I think it took us about 4 hours to get to Douglas. Don't miss that at all...

I just happened upon this site due to a google search for wyoming horses and everyones comments posted "hit home". Before I started vacationing in Star Valley and Jackson 3 years ago (no hotel costs, a friend of mine moved to Thayne for a job) I had forgotten what it was like to be in small towns instead of a metropolitan city soon to be a future megaplex- Phoenix.

Thirty years ago when I moved to Phoenix, Arizona the states total population was 500,00. Today Wyomings total states population is 500,00 and Phoenix population alone is 1.5 million.

It has taken me 3 yrs to convince my husband to move to WY due to his concern over being able to support a family and the "snow factor", but our home went up for sale last month. I appreciate Wy for everything Az once used to be plus the one thing that Az never had.

That each person I have gotten to know takes a personal interest & is knowledgable in what their local and state govt officials does, plus takes an active involvement in letting their voices be heard on what they want or dont want in their community for the benefit of the whole not the profit of one.

I still kick myself for letting a law get passed in 1997 that rules each homeowner and business must use concrete or 3 inches of rock with concrete borders if they choose to build a 2nd driveway/pking lots on their property"....to keep neighborshoods clean & the property values high...at what cost?

Who doesnt know that concrete retains heat...?

Darn, you missed the horse draw for this year.

Wild horses were rounded up and this year they offered a deal. For a mare and her foal, you usually pay $125 for each. This year, it was $125 for the pair.

If I remember the article correctly, they were planning on about a Thousand head being sold this year.

But hey, there's always next year. Give you time to settle and be ready for them.
