Anything good or bad to say about Powell?
I'm thinking about moving to Powell in a few months. I was wondering if anyone had anything good, or bad, to say about the area. Are there any jobs around there and places to live? Anything would be helpful, thanks.

I had to live there for three years because of my wifes college courses. I can't believe how crappy we were treated. I wanted to live there for many years before and I jumped at the chance. And regretted almost every day we lived there. I have friends there too. But other than that. You might like it.
We were not the right religion, monetary level, weren't moving in a business to put locals to work, and not tourists.
I couldn't get a loan on a house there. But I could get a signature loan in Cody for $50,000.00 over the amount of the house. Uh, to say the least, I didn't buy in Powell. Now you ask, why a house in a town that was like that. It was a farm and many miles out of town. So contact with townfolks would be minimal.

my cousin went to school there and liked it allright but different people like different things.a town one person hates another will love, everybodys different.its in a pretty good location if you like outdoors stuff, between some mountain ranges and close to the montana border.i dont think the job situation is booming as much as some other areas of the state.i guess since youve got a reason to be there for a couple years you'll decide for yoursef

Weezer, if you hunt and fish or just get out in the boonies. PM me, and I'll let you in on some spots for all of it. There is good people there but you'll probably find jobs hard to get and. Just keep saying "it's only two years, it's only two years" And like me. It'll only seem like five or six years. When it's all done.

Powell is a nice, small, western town, just like so many others. If you are from a city, there will be some major culture shock. If you like small towns, Powell is as good as any. If you like nature and beautiful scenery, there is plenty of that in the surrounding area.Personally, if I had a chance to spend two years in a small town with a very nice community college, I would consider Powell a good choice.

Well thank you for your posts. I'm from South Dakota, so I don't think I will have culture shock. I grew up in the boonies and I thought that Wyoming might not be so different.

Love Powell
I grew up near Powell. I went to school at Northwest and loved it. I love going home and visiting my sister who lives in Powell. I think every place is what you make of it. There are good people everywhere!

I went to school there 10 years ago for photography. I liked it a lot, but partied too much, so I never finished it out. Oh, and I'm from South Dakota too.
