Don't exclude areas further away from the park. Day trips and long weekends are easy out here, in my opinion. I suggest considering what amenities you value and going from there.

And, once I was boasting about WY and SD absence of income tax and the relatively low property taxes when my friends from around Billings pointed out the additional services available in MT. It is different for most everyone.

There are also other places in Wyoming that are very scenic other than YNP and GTNP. Look into the Wind River mountains, the Wyoming Range, the Red Desert, Flaming Gorge, Medicine Bow National Forest, etc. And the residential places near those sites will be cheaper than anywhere close to "The Parks." (Although Sublette County, where I live and where the Wind Rivers are, is still pretty expensive - not nearly as expensive as Jackson though).

I was referring to Montana's Park County which is cheap compared to Teton County but still not affordable to the average Joe.

Mettings half day Thrusday then a very pretty drive home, saw some nice muley bucks, antalope, buffalo , elk, cows , horses , sheep, moutains and vista.....I love this state.

I've heard the expression seize the day. I think you seized the week.

That does sound like a fun cruise, especially the double soak in Thermop. The view from Togwotee Pass of the Tetons in the distance is really nice and no crowds unless it's snowmobile season. Driving thru the walls of snow in the winter is surreal.
