Default Trees near Powell?

I'm considering an opportunity in Powell and found through searching that it is a high desert climate. Are there any nice areas to live within commuting distance that have trees? I love open ponderosa pine forests- Will I find anything like that nearby?

Thanks

Not around Powell you won't. Powell is primarily a farming community. The closest pine forest would be about 70 miles away along the Bighorns to the east of Powell.

What about yellowstone to the west and montana to the northwest ? Driving an hour or two into a nice camping spot is not uncommon in Wyoming. Driving to work from the woods might work for you also ?

It is about about 80 to 100 miles to the west toward Yellowstone before you get into trees. Also about 50 to 60 miles into Sunlight Basin and neither of theses roads are ones that I recommend for daily commutes.

Thanks for the info. Powell's not looking too promising in my book!
