I'm from Northern Minnesota, and we purchased land off of 120, 5 miles from montana border a year ago, and we LOVE the area. We went out there the first time last October, and was caught in an early season snow storm, and it was the best few days ever. We went out again in November and was able to catch some great trout in the clark's fork and was walking around in tshirts. We had to drive through a blizzard in North Dakota to get there, and then went back in June to camp on our land. It was the best week we've ever had. My brother is trying to sell his house in Wisconsin to purchase a parcel in phase II. Then we went out in August and finally found out what the "high winds" were all about. We have heard a lot about the winds so we thought we were prepared, but when we came back to camp one night from shopping in cody, our large tent was blown over but the smaller ones were fine, and that night we slept in tents through hail, lightening and lots of wind. but I do have to say the wind doesnt last very long, but it is quite extensive. We're going back out there this month to put in our drive way, and if we are able to sell our house and business we are building our home in June 2010, and we cannot wait for that day. Once you walk the land there it sets in your soul and there is such an inner peace that takes over, it's hard to explain, but we fell in love with it a year ago, and can't stay away! If you like peace, nature and want to feel a part of history, this is a perfect place for you! (ohhhhh I did find a rattle snake....I guess where our land is it's called rattle snake country)

Clark is the same way it was in the 70's - nothing much has changed exc for Chief Joseph Estates - 20 ac parcels along the Clarks Fork. A lot of people bought them in the mid-nineties, then couldn't afford to build on them when they retired. Rita Lovell 307-527-7092 is the person to speak with regarding property sales as she lives there. Line Creek is where a number of gas wells were being drilled most recently.

Gotta agree with you, "gaduchman"! I lived in Dubois for about a year in 1996-7 after living in Jackson and east of Casper and I used to whine about the Dubois wind. That is until a "native" reminded me it was called the "Wind River" ....duh!! Beautiful, though, if you can stand daily high winds!
