Moving for employment need housing
We are looking to move out to WY in the spring. Our job market in MI is no longer viable to take care of our family. Wyoming is our dream state to live in. We have one issue holding us back, and of course, it is housing. Can anybody give us an idea on the best areas to look in that will have housing available? Thanks so much!!!

Need more details. Where are you looking to live in WY? What are you going to do jobwise? There are lots of great places in WY that have housing available but maybe they aren't places that will work for you. Let me know and I'll help if I can.

Housing
I've lived just about all over the state. I've not had a problem finding housing. When you move into a town, housing is available. But you have to be realistic. You are not going to move into town and find your dream home on the first day. Can you find a house to rent? Sure. Probably not what you want but it's a house and it's warm and will keep the rain off of you. Then you can take time to look for housing. When I got out of the Navy and moved back here to Sheridan, I rented a home for about 4 months until something that I really wanted became available. Housing is available. The problem that people report is that they moved into town and couldn't find the 4.32 bedroom 2.8 bath ranch house, with a 3 car garage on 2.7 acres. And they wouldn't accept anything else.
Housing is available. But look at it as temporary until you find your dream home.

Housing is not always available. As of today in the Gillette newspaper there are no homes, apt., etc. to rent. There are some to buy however. It is hard to find somewhere to rent in my town also.

Do be careful... moving is expensive, and housing currently a premium in the growth towns of WY. If you don' thave the $$ to buy a junker and fix up,(if they are even available...) best bring your own, BUT WY is not too nice of a spot to live in an RV (4 tent trailers got blown over in Buffalo the last time we camped there (during a summer !!, winter is a LOT worse, and don't use a tent trailer ...)
I suggest a preview trip, or a 'host family' to help you through if you have financial issues. It might be cheaper / make better sense at the moment to have hubby work 'remote' for 10 days and come home for 5, and live in a less expensive place. Booms are a good time to collect $$, but a poor time to spend excess on housing.

gillette has never had much to rent even when it wasnt booming,i never thought it was a particularly great place to live either, but one of the best places in state to make money.if going there with a wife and kids id suggest trying to rent/buy in a more pleasant city like sundance/carlile/hulett or buffalo and plan on getting used to a long commute

MHT, you are probably correct. I last lived in Gillette before the boom. But since the boom, Cheyenne, Wheatland, Douglas, Casper, Buffalo, Sheridan, Cody, Green River, Rock Springs all have housing available. But it's been a while since I lived in Gillette. I was there on the original boom when they opened up Coal mines.
Thanks for the input, it's important to know. I currently own a home in Sheridan and really like it here.
