Default Teaching in Arapahoe

My wife has an opportunity to teach in Arapahoe. We have never been there, and would appreciate any insight into the area. We are environmentally conscious, and open minded. We don't really need to live by a Wal Mart or a big town, but we don't want to be in a rural area where meth (crank) is the big thing.

Arapahoe is considered a high needs school district, and is on the list with a few towns in Montana. We have to choose, please help. jm

I don't know if you will be in houseing furnished by the tribe or have to find it. Riverton, Hudson, Lander in that order are the nearest towns to Arapahoe. Housing is high as there is a oil boom going on in wyoming now. I lived in riverton and lander. Both towns are good to live in. Lander is alittle less populated and has less retail stores and such. Hudson is a very small town more like what you want I guess. There are also places off the rezervation to rent/buy. In wyoming the roads can clost in ten minutes and take hours or days to open because of snow.
But remember one thing. She is working for the rezervation tribe. When a indian with the same qualifications is available, and the want that job. It's theirs. There is no fair employment on the rez. The federal government has no authority on this kind of matter. The tribe comes first. The rez (anywhere) has high unemployment. If they can employ one of their own. It will be done. Don't get me wrong I like the rezervation and it's life style. I am most part indian. But this is how it is. If she is paying back a student loan or something like that this will be a great experience. The native americans are a great people and good friends, or if treated bad. They can be bad people to mess with.
