We thought about Sheridan at one point at well, as I have family there as well. However, it just didn't work out for us. But all is well, my husband finally at least has definite interviews in Pinedale and one is very promising YAY! I am tired of the catch 22: meaning you have to have employment to rent anywhere, but no one will hire you if you don't have somewhere to live. GRRRR!! Oh well, lets just hope the move goes well. Thank you everyone for your help on here and we will be joining you all the first of February!!!

Default Question about weather in Cody.

My husband and I are thinking of moving to Cody from Tennessee in the near future. My question is, how much snow does Cody actually get. The national percentages don't always paint an accurate picture so I'd like to know from people that actually live there since they would know more than those crazy national graphs. Thanks!

Cody normally does not get that much snow because the wind blows it all away.

Cody doesn't have the harsh, snowy winters it used to have 20 years ago. This winter, we have only had a few snowfalls with the snow melting quickly. It's not like it used to be where it would snow in October and the snow would still be on the ground in February. You can attribute that to global warming.

It is very windy here in the winter, however. Gusts can knock you off your feet if you aren't careful.

In the last year, the interstate to Billings was shut down as long for rain in the summer as it was for snow in the winter. We went last winter with 3 or 4 inchs of snow at a time and it would melt off. In March, we did have the one blizzard that shut everything down for a day. But that was it.

Apartments here, although small, can be had for around $500. It's just that right now, due to the boom, they're all full.

What part of the state are you in?
Elkhunter, Can you still get apartments for 500 a/mo?? Can you work in Montana and live in wyoming or too far. Is there any jobs in Wyoming ??

Apartments in the paper yesterday were $450 a month. But they were full. haha

As far as living in Wyoming and working in Montana, not reasonable from here. My son lives here in town and works at a mine in Montana. So he's only traveling 19 miles. But to live in Sheridan and work in Montana, your looking at 130 miles, one way. There's just no towns between here and Billings. Well, there are, but no industry, just 7/11 jobs and such.

Can someone tell me what the weather is like today, 1/13/08, and how much snow is on the ground? Do you know how much snow fell in Lake Tahoe in the last week? Did you get 11 feet of snow in the Casper area? Just curious.

Wink How much snow does Casper get on an average?

I would like to know how much snow Casper gets on an average. My family and I are moving there from Northern California. We lived in PA and miss the snow and the 4 seasons. Someone let me know what I'm in store for. Thanks.

11 feet? Are you nuts. Casper got 2 inches and today, it was 34 degrees so it was gone by about 2pm. Where did you get the idea that Casper got 11 feet of snow? That's bazarre.

Troll? Just bouncing around trying to start trouble.?

Maybe it was Lake Tahoe that got 11 feet of snow in the past week. From what I saw of recent storms, I wouldn't be surprised. Perhaps the poster was just trying to compare both places.
