Smile Alpine-schools, rentals...please help!

We are planning a move to Alpine this spring and need some information that I can't seem to find anywhere else. Does Alpine have any elementary or high schools? Where do kids have to commute to get to school? Also, there doesn't seem to be a newspaper that covers Alpine alone, so which newspaper would contain the most information about rentals? I would assume there are very few rentals available, but we are looking for a commercial rental space. Does anyone know where you can find good pictures of the downtown area? My husband and I are both Wyoming natives, but haven't visited the area in a number of years, and I have heard it has grown quite a bit. We are both planning on opening businesses there so we need to find a reliable resource for finding space. I would really appreciate any information anyone out there might have. Thanks!

The last I knew, there is still only one high school, and it is in Afton, (Star Valley High School, where I graduated from. Go Braves!). From Etna, (where I lived in HS), to Afton is roughly about a 25 mile drive, so tack on about another 10 or 11 miles from Alpine and you're looking at about a 35 miles drive. In fact you would be about half-way between Afton and Jackson also, as Jackson is about the same distance. From Alpine to Idaho Falls, (for larger shopping, should you need it), is about 75 miles. But, being WY natives, you are well aware of the distances involved to get just about anywhere, so that won't throw you. The closest elementary school was in Etna, as I recall. "Star Valley Independent" is the name of the newspaper for the entire valley.

We live just outside of Alpine.

Lots of development and new businesses going in.
Brand new elementary school about to open in Etna. High School in Afton, will not change soon.

Commercial space is hard to come by but it depends on the kind of business.

In the winter the drive from Alpine to Jackson is another world compared to the drive from Alpine to Afton.

Thanks for the responses! It's comforting to know that Alpine is growing. Commercial space looks like it will be our issue, but I guess we'll just wait and hope. It seems the real estate market there is certainly more affordable than Jackson, but does anyone have any idea or gut feeling about the future of real estate there? Perhaps buying a property would be the best bet?

Alpine is a different market. Things slowed bit but they are picking up again. What kind of business will you start?
