It unnerved me so much that I didn't get a photo of her when she was at the edge. If you zoom in, you can see her sitting on the bank, after her crazy walk to the edge.

Sooner or later she's gonna win a Darwin Award...

I need to correct my post as Subic Bay was not covered in volcanic ash it was Clark Air Force base. . I was discharged from the Navy in part from Clark and our Carrier was docked in Subic Bay. The peripheral towns were also buried in ash. This is a small model of what could happen with a volcano a 1000 times larger. Clark was huge as was the countryside and it's gone! As for the vents ....don't end up boiled!!!

I am trying to get support for a tourist transport system for the national and other parks. In YNP at least perhaps I could use safety as a reason.

When we visited last year I was impressed by how little of the walkways had any fencing to keep people from walking on the formations or few signs telling then to beware. Many may simply may not know that the water is actually boiling. Ignorance may be bliss but sometimes can be deadly.

Good luck with that, Greg. The national parks can't afford to fix the potholes or leaky plumbing, so it's not likely they're going to install any mass transport systems. And really, I doubt many would want that. I like to choose where and when I stop when visiting national parks.

There's nothing like the Red Bus Tour of Glacier National Park in Yellowstone? That would seem to provide the public transit for folks who want it without needing to stop private vehicles.

I meant a small system designed to haul the slightly infirm, and elderly around the places near the boardwalks. Using Old Faithful as an example there is a 1.5 mile board walk around the geyser basin and to an overlook. I would have had difficulties and my wife could not, due to a deteriorating spine, walked around that facility. We were pretty well limited to the walk from the Inn to the Cafeteria. I did not mean to connect the separated features where there are already roads.
