I was just telling my wife about the Hole-in-the-Wall area last week. It's been 35 years since I was there. We came in from the Kaycee direction but left on the Hazelton Road because it rained, turning our entrance road to mud.

I climbed the canyon walls then. I'd hate to even try it today. ): You can also follow the river down into the canyon, and it's just beautiful. Good fly fishing too, or it was "back in the day," but I don't think my wife nor I could handle the walk these days. There's no easy way into that canyon.

We went through Kaycee. Pass Sinclair gas and turn left with signs to Barnum. Take that road until it turns to a dirt road, when you get to the split in the road, where you can either go to Barnum or to the left, stay to the left for about 7miles. If you see the old silo and Hole in Wall ranch and bridge then on the right track. The road gets pretty nasty after the silo, def 4WD or park at the first fishing spot and ATV in to the canyon outlook.

If you want more specific directions, at the rest stop across the street from Sinclair there is really good directions on one of the signs inside the rest stop.

I hope that helps.

I'd like to go back to Jackson Hole, a friend of mine has a son in law that owns a fish guiding service, didn't get a chance to go this trip. As for Wind River Canyon, I do believe the tunnels are from there. We drove from Jackson Hole on 191 over to Riverton and north to Worland and onto Buffalo.

Default pictures

wow nice pictures warptman.
Pretty good camera shots from inside a vehicle
I never noticed the fence cage above the entrance on the tunnel before when driving. I enjoy that drive through wind river. Last time i was up was 2007 and in October I noticed alot of fly fishermen in the canyon and the water was down real low. I have always wanted to fish that river but never have. Anyone know how good it is fishing there?

Yes, some of the shots are from the Cody area, if I remember correctly, the tunnels were from the Wind Canyon. There are also tunnels in the Cody area, too. I wasn't thinking at the time and didn't bother taking pictures of them. It's fun playing tourist. People drive up to Alaska to see it up here, I love driving the other way and seeing the lower 48. The return trip is fun, too. Can see the other sides of the mountains on the way home.
