Interesting...thanks for the additional information. That's the kind of place you don't want to become overrun. Very nice little spot.

Here's a few more of Wonderful Wyoming....
An 8 photo panorama looking southeast from Shirley Mountain. Elk Mountain can be seen in the distance on the right.
The Tetons
What we call the "Purple Hill" on our ranch.
Here you can see a bit better why we call it that....
Just east of Split Rock. Casper Mountain can be seen in the distance on the right. (From 15,000 feet)
What I call the "Scallops" just east of Rawlins.

Wow. So beautiful.
Could I ask, does anyone have any additional shots of the Green River / Rock Springs area?
I'm applying for a job in Green River and I know my wife will be concerned if it is a pretty region. I know it's high elevation, but is it mountainous? Is there foliage or is it more desolate?
If no pics are available, could anyone give me any thoughts on the Green River landscape?

Wikipedia has some good (winter) photos of the Green River area:

Cloudfish, are you using a polarizing filter on your lens or something else? Your pictures are amazing!

Thanks, navyvet The only filter I had on these is a UV filter--which I mainly just have for protection of my lenses more than anything else. Ironically, while I own polarizing filters, I don't really carry them--especially when I'm flying. The windshield in the plane I fly has many tiny wires in it (for anti-icing) and it really plays havoc with my shots, creating strange effects I cannot get rid of.... I'll admit to some "over processing" in the first panorama (Shirley Mtn.)--I was (and still am) learning how to do panos and how to post process in Photoshop.
FYI, I was using a Canon 10D (I now use a Canon 40D.) I shoot in RAW format--which, in and of itself, necessitates some form of post processing with an editor. My thinking, though, is the less the better--striving to get the shot right first and not having to do anything more than is necessary post shot. I have a long journey to look forward to....

The first pictures I posted, didn't have the greatest lighting... but I liked these two pictures of the big horns a lot better the lighting is better in these pictures in other words and gives you a better view of the mountains, these are standing in the driveway... The yellow house isn't our rental, it is the ranch lady's farm house...
