summit rancher, look at the article in the new york times that i found. It talks about the bad deals that the power cos are trying to push on the people in wheatland. You know that they are going to try it with us too. By the way, according to the article, the going rate for using your land was 5.00 an acre. Dont let them get you to sign a deal that you cant talk with your nieghbors about it either. thats when they really start bullying. In wheatland, the land owners got together so they wouldnt get taken. We have rights.

I recently went to Google Earth and I think I found the WYTEX Ranch area northeast of Medicine Bow at coordinates 41o54'57.78"N 106o10'12.16"W. There is a large blue building there with some smaller buildings near it. Is this the Big Blue Barn that I have seen referenced in some posts, and if it is, can anyone tell me where "tract 64 of phase one" lies in relation to it? I purchased the 35 acre lot back in July of 1998 and have never seen it. That may be dumb, but what the heck, I have done a lot of dumb things in my 81 years.

The printing on the tract layouts that came with my purchase are blurred so that it is difficult to read them, but it looks like Man O' War drive becomes (something) Army Drive at the lower left corner of my lot, and the coordinates in the lot are ineligible but look like they are S and E instead of N and W.

Can anyone help? I got a post from "Little Pony" in Dec of 06 and he/she was familiar with that area at that time. Thanks for any help anyone can give. I would like to say too, that judging from the posts in this thread I admire all you guys who are "pioneering" that place. you've got guts.

There is a red barn with a white roof on google earth at
N42o02'37.36" W105o57'35.73"
Our big blue blue barn is the next property south at
N42o02'15" W105o57'41.4" -However, it does not show on google yet.

N42o03.54.81" W105o57'46.17" is where Tract 64 is at, which is due north of our barn.

The blue barn you were looking at is a different one.

Send my husband an email bzbzman@msn.com if you need more help.

I had a conversation with a project manager for the Gateway West project last week. According to him, they were unaware that the WyTex landholdings existed as a development. They are submitting a new plan to route the power lines around WyTex completely.

Smile Wyomingites at last!

We are finally making our permanent move to Wyoming. It has taken us a long time to make it happen. We haven't started to build our house, but hopefully that will come next. I have come to love the remoteness of our Wytex property more with each trip we made this year. The people are genuine and the quietness of the area is a blessing! I love the the work it takes to get through our daily lives out there. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment. Something that 40 yrs of working for somebody else didn't fulfill.
There are a few changes happening. The powerline project will happen whether we like it or not. The funny thing is, that we won't get any electricity from it. We will be off the grid completely.
I have heard talk about a road going in to help the ranchers move cattle. Now, we won't be raising any cattle, but we will definately benefit from this one, as it will take about 10-15 miles off a trip to town.

We have had emails from other property owners who will be spending some time on Wytex this summer and we are looking forward to meeting them. A couple of people have talked about wanting to live out there. The distance to most employment usually is a problem.
We really had a nice surprise last month. One of the residents had really done alot of work on the road. When we bring our 5th wheel in next week, I will be thinking of her!

Hi--I see you live in Washington. I thought I would let you know about an outfit that teaches a log home building school class there near Seattle. 6 Generation log home builders and they teach a simple method...I took the class so I am talking from experience. Tight pinned full logs butt and pass-no roof jacks no keyways etc. as the home will not settle using this method. You can get some good deals on some logs up there in WY. using the best ever logs to build a home--Lodgepole Pine. Class is only 2 days --sign up for an email alert when next class starts & they will email you a few days before posting it to there site--fills up quick cause of the small size class they keep it to.

Smile Belated Thanks

Thanks Bzbzlady, your information let me find my lot (#64 in phase one) at Wytex. It is facinating to wander across the screen and try to put ID's to each lot based on the conversations in this forum.

My lot seems begin where Man-O-War becomes Whirlaway and is apparently well situated, at least I hope that is the case. I am looking forward to the time when Google Earth switches to a more recent satelite photo so I can follow the development of the area.

Thanks again. I really appreciate your helpful reply.

Oh yes, I have read articles and seen television documentarys of such people. I suppose each to his own. I suppose that's why we like it out here, because we all make the decisions that we want to make in our daily living. We love the challenge of the hard work it takes to make things happen. Nobody gives us anything. We both come from hard working families and areas of the country that truly know that failure to plan brings catastrophe. Maine and Alaska are both places that your life style is dictated by the elements and the effort you put into improving it.
I wonder why you are so negative and angry. This is only a site to share information and experience.s No one on this site can have all the answers for everyone one else.
Keep your chin up and hopefully you will stay in Ostrander, Ohio and I will never have you as a neighbor.
