He is so right you have to put an orange vest on you, your pets and grandkids if you are out during hunting season

You go ahead and move into WyTex Ranch from FL. In a real winter with winds up to 90 mph blowing snow in the smallest hole or crack in your cabin and windchills down to 60 below zero and snow drifts up to 8 ft high and rural roads especially in WyTex blocked for weeks to months at a time and you will want to go back to FL real soon no matter what the economy is like. If you get a job and live in WyTex forget about getting to it in winter so you better have money to spare.

Angry WyTex Ranch People

If anyone in WyTex Ranch has any information about the misappropriation of aspen firewood during a blowing snowstorm and a large orange chainsaw from a storage trailer belonging to Will Brown at Dr. Dorothy's place please leave information in her mailbox on the county road. What kind of people live in or have moved into the place who would misappropriate such necessary items from a 61 year old woman on a limited income who fends for herself and never bothers anyone and in the winter?? What is up with this? The poor woman was in tears. She is unable to post herself as she has forgotten her password and could not log on. If anyone knows anything please let her know. You can remain anonymous. This is an all time low.

Unhappy WyTex Resident lost to winter weather

Sadly one of the WyTex Ranch residents got stranded on the county road and tried to walk home when no one came by and was found frozen to death on 12/20. He was 70 yrs old and left behind a cat, two dogs and some chickens. He was a very nice person and had planned to sell his WyTex place and move to a warmer place but WyTex is a brutal place and if you are not accustomed to very cold and windy winters with temps and wind chills way below zero and are not conditioned for living in a wilderness area and you do not have very keen survival skills as he actually did as he was an ex military bush pilot you really should not even consider living in WyTex Ranch. He will be sadly missed but will not suffer any more WY Wytex winters.

Thumbs up Wytex Ranch Update

It's time for an update on our progress on the property we purchased on the Wytex Ranch in 05.
We enjoyed 6 weeks on our land in May 07 & put on alot of miles learning the where, when and why of just about anything you can imagine. We found you can accomplish most anything you want if you put your head and heart into it. We met some great people who shared invaluable information with us. and are looking forward to meeting others with the same ambition, drive and stamina. We found a honest hardworking class of people who know how to plan & be self suffient.
We drilled & hit water at 260ft and got 5 gpm. The barn should be built in March if the weather cooperates, & hopefully a house in 09. We both built muscles and lost weight - what a plus. Only a few more months until we get to go back again for a longer stay.

Thumbs up Just caught up.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of one of the residents out there. If I can do anything please let me know (kenpodo39@yahoo.com). Secondly, it is a real shame someone misappropriated the items noted from the doc. I was hoping buying land in a remote area like wy-tex would put us far from such things. I hope someone fesses up and does the right thing.
Congratulations to everyone making headway out there. Its good to hear water was reached at such shallow levels and others are making future plans to build.
Love reading all the posts and really appreciate the chance to live vicariously through all you guys. Hopefully I will be out amongst the folks one day.

good luck. Merry christmas and happy new year!

Have you done any web searches for rentals there ? Try also looking at a town called Hanna, it is sort of a Ghost town but will be booming in the next few years. By the sounds of your earlier post you are looking for a short term place to live untill your home is done ?
