Harry, If you are hunting just skip all of the fuss and carry open. Many folks I know carry open all the time , just not in places that don't allow it.

Thank you all for the great info. I apologize for not responding sooner, but I've been laid up with the flu. The answers you all gave me were precisely what I was looking for!
Looking forward to relocating in June>>>>>
Thanks again! Harry

So as a side note to this topic, do you know whether WY recognizes other states firearms instruction classes for application of permits? Meaning, if I've taken a class here in Texas for my CHL, does the fact that I have it constitute having taken a class in the eyes of WY requirements?

I was told that they recognize any class given to a person that Wyoming has recipracacy with. Make sense? If you have a Texas CCL and qualified by their standards, Wyoming will recognize those standards.

However, I highly recommend you go through the class up here because they cover all the major laws and there may be some that are different.

I assume your moving up here. But if your just visiting, you should just check to see if Wyoming recognizes Tx's permit.

Wyo does honor the TX permit.

I agree with Elk Hunter... take the class. You can use the hunter's ed class.... a few hours online for the first part and a four hour field day to finish it off. It works for your CCW and your hunting.... and it's $5.

I got my CCL here, but the class was waved. I guess the 18 years of military told them I knew which end of the gun to point.

I also received my CCL...but I only had to produce my Hunter's Safety Card. Well...perhaps also being married to a Deputy at the time didn't hurt either

Here is the Wyoming Statute for concealed carry--it lists the requirements therein.
