What is the seasonal rental market like? Do a lot of people do this? What is an average monthly rate for a small cabin or condo/apartment? Are 2 or 3 month rentals available for the entire summer?

The rates will vary by town and unit quality. The units that might rent month to month are mostly aimed at seasonal workers and low income residents, though there are some upscale units with owners hoping to get upscale rents from upscale tenants.

You'll need to scout Craigslist, realtor sites, newspapers and dig, call, be willing to move pretty fast. Watch out for possible scams. Visit your preferred town if you can and see the units before committing.

Cody might have more than most places. Jackson will be the most expensive, probably by far. West Yellowstone will have some. Emigrant / Gardiner a few.

I'd think most will be $800 per month and up and way up. A few less, if you aren't demanding about size, quality, amenitiies.

the market is primarily driven by the summer tourist season.

expect "nice" places to lease for the season in the realm of $800-2000 per bedroom/month. Of course, there are much more expensive units to be leased, some of which can readily go into 5-figures/month for each of the 3 months of the lease, esp in the Jackson area.

If you find an acceptable m-t-m place at a reasonable price, don't dely on getting it signed up. They do not stay vacant very long with the demand for seasonal employee lodging.

Short-term room rentals on the North Fork, 18 mi west | Apartments For Rent | codyenterprise.com

Not totally clear but sounds like you have 12 days to get it or it probably goes vacation rental.
