My Wife and I are flying in to Jackson Hole on Friday 10/5, and plan on driving to Yellowstone on Sunday or Monday. It looks like there may be some snow fall while we are there, should this effect our drive to Yellowstone? Just wondering about at what point do the roads close to Yellowstone? I know this won't be a major event, but we are wondering anyways.
thanks

Road info.https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvis...m#onthisPage-2
First road closure planned for just after your visit. Most close weeks later.

Likely won't be a major issue. Start an hour or two later if it snowed enough overnight to bother you. If the clouds get heavy during day, maybe head back to accommodations early. If in doubt, check with a ranger station.

we bought up a picnic in Jackson at this time of year, we got passed the junction and were heading to old faithful , they had a road block and a 40 minute wait to move 6 inches of wet snow off the road... we open a semi soft ripe cheese we thought we would try... oh the pungent smell of a manure pile filled the cab.... I admit I did chuck it as far as I could out into the tree above west thumb...

One would assume that a 'high-end/high-altitude' resort-town such as Jackson would have two or more car-rentals targeting the 'adventure-lifestyle' consumer, which naturally means you'll have a plethora of 'all-wheel-drive SUV's' to choose from.

But...if you're going to let a little snow, or slush-covered roads slow you down...perhaps Wyoming is a little too 'rough-and-tumble' for you ?

Even if the area gets enough snow that you don't go into the park, there is a lot of beautiful country to see in the note traveled areas and many things to do. Have fun.

We saw snow last year the last week of September when we were out. It was gorgeous, we had no issues getting around the park. Unlike where I come from (North Carolina) - they know what to do with snow on the roads in WY. LOL!
