Is there a large horse population in Jackson?I am a farrier,and a skier,and I would have the best of both worlds if there would be enough work here for a farrier.Any Input??

Farrier and skier? I don't think the ski thing would be a problem, but I don't know if there is even a ferry in operation on the lake up there.....

J/K..... I don't really know anybody over there, but the ski resorts are spectacular... I would expect enough horses in the area to keep you busy shoeing as well...?

A ski program I watched on TV this last weekend had a girl from the Jackson area competing. There is plenty of places to enjoy sking. I remember seeing some hores but I have no idea about how they are cared for.

Yes there are ferriers in Jackson but the number of ranches is shrinking so it would be hard for a newcomer to break in. Three local multi-generational ranching families who have large tracts of land in the valley are now getting ready to sell some of their land for developement.

I'd look into red lodge mt. Great little town-great sking-lots of nags-I mean horses! Also would be easier to find a place etc. Good luck!
