What exactly are you asking? Are you talking about work or recreational activities?

The weather varies greatly here... it can get cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but not to the extremes that other places have. We got as cold as -12 this year, but it was in the middle of the night when most people are in bed asleep. I noticed a couple below during the day a few times, but it's not a daily thing. You can probably expect teens to be common in a couple of the colder months, and twenties in a couple other winter months.

It's been between high 20's and low 60's here the last month or so..... not bad at all. The benefit is that you won't find months of 110-120 degrees in the summer like a lot of the places that have milder winters. I'll trade 120 in the summer for a few negative temps in the winter... you can always put another layer or two on, but in extreme heat there's really nothing you can do except for stay inside with the AC on or lounge in a pool all day.

If you're into the outdoor lifestyle there's a lot to do around here... if you're looking for big-city nightclubs you're out of luck. There are a lot of rodeos and fairs, trade shows, gun shows, and multiple other events at the Camplex. Hunting and fishing activities are plentiful.... an hour either way and you're in the Black Hills or the Big Horns. There are a lot of sports events... high school sports are big here.

I hope this answers some of your questions... if you want to shoot me an email at lance@laksupply.com I'll be happy to answer more of your questions. I'm in sales, so I've gotten to know a fair amount of the area, and my wife is in real estate so she's fairly knowledgeable about the housing market. I'm sure between the two of us we can set you up with some info about the Gillette area.....

Most people here like pets... nearly everybody I know has at least one animal at home. What landlords don't like is a house that's already being taken care of in a marginal manner by tenants getting torn up further by those tenants' animals. There are a lot of people moving in and out because of the energy industry; a lot of renters have left places trashed. Their animals were part of the problem.

You will have everything you need here in Gillette. If you want further shopping there is plenty in Rapid or Casper. If you really want to go tie one on Denver is about 4.5 hours away.

Gas here is $3.05-$3.10.

Gillette is a booming area! We have financed several people who have moved into that area! A lot of new houses and the weather gives you the Wyoming winters and nice summers! Close to several lakes for fishing, swimming etc. ATV areas if you are into that as well as you are close to shopping with Casper and Rapid City. Job market is booming and several stores are coming into that area! Do you have something specific you are looking for?

We do get up to 100 degrees or so in the summer. So do expect a few hot days. Today was 65 or so, beautiful. You're probably moving any day now, so good luck to you. Takes a bit to settle in.

There are some really nice parks here. Dalby has a fishing lake. We have 2 small movie theatres. Okay, one really small (I think just one room), the other is decent sized with stadium seating, or whatever you call it when it goes up. We have a Home Depot, Walgreens, Hallmark, and plenty of other nice locally owned stores. Free swimming pool by the downtown twin spruce junior high (outdoor) and another by parks and rec with a high, spiral slide. And there's a skateboard park near that at Lasting Legacy. Camplex has lots of great performances. And there are nice places to go out to dinner, like Boss Lodge.

Good luck to you and welcome to Gillette.

For Wyo Gillette has really cleaned up from what it was a couple of decades ago - and is pretty self-sufficient. the Bear Lodge mountains to the north - with Devil's tower (great camping there along the Belle Fourche River) & the town of Hulett are some great assetts as well as Keyhole Res. But my fav is the Black Hills being an hour away But unfortunately they have become WAYYY too populated for my taste anymore but still like to camp there. In the 1980's I would NEVER have considered Gillette but now I'd move there if I had to - does have good medical care & not really far from better - by fixed wing or heli (Billings, MT, Casper or Rapid City). There's a lot of land to explore in the area. I have family there & never moved away so that says something...
