Gas Prices
Driving thru Wyoming in a few weeks.........how are the gas prices for regular?
Is there a good place to stop for lunch besides Mc D's etc. Someplace with home cooking would be great.
Thanks.

What area are you planning to drive through exactly? My jaw nearly hit the floor the other day with the price of petrol - living on the west-side of Casper, it is now $3.27/gallon for regular. I have never seen it this high. It helps to have a Smith's card for that $.03 off..but it is still absurd.
As far as home-cooked meals, there are a few restaurants that are like that...if you are coming through Casper, I would recommend the Fireside on CY Avenue. They have great steaks and good specials.

Gas prices along I-90 vary. In Gillette I last paid around $3.07 for regular. 66 miles west in Buffalo we pay $3.39. Yesterday, 30 miles north I paid $3.12 in Sheridan, WY.
If you do travel I-90, The Chophouse in Gillette is a good place to eat. But the best restaurant around, in my opinion, is Winchester's in Buffalo. But be ready to pay for that good food, it's pricey.

In the Sheridan area, I don't know about the petrol prices, but there is a place to eat that I highly recommend...but need Elkhunter to help me out here with the name. It used to be in the Sheridan Inn - which was grand because while you waited for your food, you could tour the home of Bill Cody. Now it has moved downtown. Great food.

HighlandLady, are you Scottish? Given your name, and the fact that you call it "petrol", I'm guessing Scotland.

Rather obvious, no? Yes, I am...it tends to sneak out now and then
I remember the name of the restaurant now...Wyoming's Rib and Chop House. It is now located on Broadway Street - in a very small place and little parking about. Still - fine food.

Are you talking about the Chop house? Remodeled and different name now. Haven't tried out the new one yet.

Yes, that's the one...I think I remember it as Wyoming's Rib and Chop House now - downtown on Broadway Street. I went there last month. They had to move due to the end of the lease and the restoration project of the Sheridan Inn. Still the great food, but very cramped quarters now.

It's around $3.10 for regular in Gillette right now. The Chop House (the Goings) and the Prime Rib are both good restaurants. My wife and I just returned home from the Prime Rib.... had some good pasta.
The Winchester is excellent, but they're only open limited hours/days. The last time I was in Buffalo (Sunday evening I believe) they were closed; we ended up eating at the Bozeman Trail Restaurant.... it was very good.

Co-op just started making E-85 made from pine trees. It's about $ .45 a gallon cheaper. But their advertisement says "Come in and see if your car will run on it." haha Not what I'd call a good advertisement.
