Default Nothing south of Jackson.....?

From WyoMama: <<Well, there is nothing except Teton Nat'l Park between Y'stone & Jackson; There's not south of Jackson either - have to go west along the Snake River to Star Valley (into Alpine & then head south thru all the totally funky communities >>

The good people of Riverton probably would take exception to that comment. From Jackson you head north, over Togwottee, then down into Dubois. From Dubois head south and a little east to Riverton. Probably getting close to 10,000 people now, with Central Wyoming College, and all the small town amenities at a fairly reasonable price still. Lots of Wind River Reservation surrounds it but unless you're buying real estate (where you just have to be sure the lands are deeded if Native owned) that's not big deal. You'll find a lot of "real old Wyoming" there with ranches, energy retrieval as you head toward Casper, and the Honor Camp. Wild horse auctions there sometime as the Honor Camp prisoners have a program to break/train them. Dubois, a real old cowboy town, is a 1.5 hr drive and is nestled in the beautiful Wnd River Range. Jackson is 1.5 hrs past Dubois and, well, I guess you'd call it "nestled"! I lived in little Dubois for a time (at the time, there were about 1000 good folks there on a good day!) and was busier being involved there than in some of the larger towns. It's about an equal drive from there to either Riverton or Jackson.

I researched cities across the U.S. and ended up buying land 10 miles north of Casper, Wyoming. Last March I visited Casper and decided to make it my home by this December. BB Brooks Ranch has 40 acre parcels, no qualifying 10% down ($50 to 90K) and 15 minutes from the mountains. Casper isn't 3000 people, its about 50,000 residents, but that ranch area gives you the ability to be far enough away and still close to people. I hope you find what you are looking for!
