My hubby lived in Hanna in the 90's and the local mine built a nice (small) rec center for that community. If it can be done in Hanna, . . . . Even Douglas has one.

I don't mind small towns, grew up in one, but I'm not sure if Rawlins is where we want to be for the next few years simply because I don't know enough about it. He's willing to commute a little, so Rawlins and the surrounding area are all open to us. Any and all information about Rawlins and surrounding town would be most appreciated. Websites, personal stories, anything and everything...thanks so much and Merry Christmas!

Simply put, Rawlins IS the surrounding area. Not much for 100 miles in any direction.

The town of Rawlins is a fine place to be for adults, and we finally have a few alternatives to the High school here in town which has gone down quite a bit in the last few years. I think it was nicknamed drop out high last year. But we do have a few alternatives for that problem. I love living here in the area but I have lived in Wyoming most of my life, so I am used to the weather and wind, not to mention you also have to love nature, because there is a lot of it here. We don't have a WalMart as of yet, but they are working on that. For major shopping you would most likely want to go to Casper (115 miles), Laramie (98 miles), Cheyenne(150 miles) or Rock Springs (115 miles) for that. As some has eluded to there is drugs, gangs, & violence here but it is not as bad as the larger cities I've lived in or visited. That is not all there is to this town as long as your children keep their minds open for new and different people and experiences.
