weather/country boys in wyoming?
Hi my name is Kari ive been trying to find a place to call home fro two years since i hate the people and lifestyle of california, and unfortunatley thats where i was born. I have decided TN is the place for me but starting to want to explore more options. can anyone tell me different areas in wyoming that may not be as abundant in snow.
i am 23 still looking for my good ol country boy, i am into ranching, my 5 dogs, rodeo, country dancing 2 step line dance cha cha you name it, fishing, hunting. but at the same time i want to live on at least 2-5 acres in a rural country setting, but around 30 minutes or less from a city so i can still work and pay the bills and go into town on the weekends to a honky tonk...
Is there somewhere like this in wyoming? maybe i have this perfect place in my head that doesnt exsist!

You've pretty much colored most of Wyoming! We really don't have a lot of snow anywhere, except in the mountains (Jackson Hole, Laramie Mtn Range, Big Horn Mtns, etc).
It really depends on whether you really want the "ranch" lifestyle or are more of a socializer....because ranches out here are usually at LEAST 60 acres and in the middle of nowhere (obviously, cattle and people don't mix really well!! )
You need to decide on what you really want...what is important to you....and go with your heart. I would say come visit and check out some places....
I have to say that if you don't like the wind, Wyoming probably isn't for you...since it is part of our "culture" here
Good luck....

You might want to check out Torrington. Land here is still reasonably priced, we're definitely rural/agricultural with fishing and hunting and we are 30 minutes from Scottsbluf NE and about 75 minutes from Cheyenne. We also have about the best weather in the state.
You'll have to rope your own cowboy, though.

You really hit the nail on the head with that one. Pretty much all of wyoming is what you explained to like. We do get some pretty good wind around here though. I myself am partial to the Big Horn basin area i.e.. Powell, Cody, Lovell, Meeteetse area myself. However I am currently living in Riverton and depending on what you can afford is what you have to look at. I moved into town due to the fact that I needed a place fast due to my transfer, but am planning on moving out to the country on no less than 5 acres in the next few years. As far as the dancing goes I have yet to find a good bar here though where I can easily swing dance or line dance for that matter. I got used to having a really good Country bar in my old town with a large dance floor and that is what we would go do.

i think im doing my research wrong, but it seems to me that a lot of wyoming even places ive seen mentioned in here only have 3 months without any snow the rest of the year its 3-11 inches... im so used to no seasons in cali that i think 3 months with snow the rest of the year without is more my pace. i think ill stick to tennessee! torrington is the only place that seemed to have less, but their crime rate also seemed up. i think i just need to take a big vacation to wyoming

Snow is definitley something you have to get use to but I for one enjoy the snow Riding in the snow is a blast as well. There is no snow on the ground here right now but the mountains are still covered which is a good thing except for Im itching to get out there. I would say on average that the snow on the ground doesnt last for more than 4 months in most places other than the mountains but it can snow every month of the year
