Currently, which city offers better employment opportunities? More interested in the overall picture than very specific job titles. I am wondering if Rock Springs is more able to offer better job choices in a downward energy market.

Both economies are very much contingent on coal mining, which the future of is questionable.

Not sure how accurate this is, but in both Sweetwater and Campbell Counties, there have been 100 new job listings in each area within the past 6 days. I know that in Gillette, things are incredibly busy. School enrollments have also been on the rise the past two weeks, with many new families moving into Gillette. Take that for what you will...

I looked at Indeed for jobs in RKS, and somehow they are sending me weekly listings. Looks like there is enough at the higher end to keep the lower end constantly hiring. Parts driver for AutoZone is nothing to write home about, but if you needed a job, you could likely make enough for steak and beer.

A friend of mine is working on a project related to that in Rock Springs. I think things are fairly active down there. It looked about normal for my rest and refuel stops I've made there this summer.

Now, a more job specific question. In the past, I have worked as a degreed, substitute teacher. Is there much of a demand for subs? Or has the 'rona brought that to a halt? Some areas don't require a degree and pay #####, while some states require any four year degree and pay 100-150+ per day, which would rely interest me. Algebra and Geography are my best subjects. I have been looking at a few beat up houses in WY to fix and live in for a few years..temporary, seasonal, part time is all good for my situation.

A good buddy of mine worked a three man crew of delivery drivers for Enterprise car sales. Made better $$$ than he did as a sub math teacher in Casper.

Thanks for the warning. If both paid 12 per hour, I would rather drive. Similar situation with school bus drivers...20 an hour, with good benefits in some areas, but 10-12 per hour and zero benefits is not uncommon, either.

A teacher friend of mine just posted on Facebook that Lander really needs substitute teachers. $130/day with a degree.
