Looking for other forums or discussions groups to chat with others about star valley ranch. Wife and I about 3 years from retirement. We golf, she quilts. Love the idea of property by the golf course. No issues with winter and snow. Just looking for others who have made the move. Are you happy?, regrets etc. Thanks in advance.

Hi. We live on Star Valley Ranch. We moved here four years ago. We are not at retirement age, but I am friends with many who are retired who live here and in the valley.

If you are into Golf and quilting you will both love it here. Golf starts up as soon as the snow melts and there's plenty of gorgeous days here to golf to your heart's content. We also have a large showing of quilters here and so your wife will fit in nicely. They even do a quilt hop kind of thing in the summer here. I don't know all the specifics but I've seen the quilts and they are very impressive.

Living on the Ranches is great. Get yourself a house on the golf course, or even one off the golf course and get yourself one of those little golf cart things and drive it around, many people do. Seems like everyone is friendly. We have a couple of places here to grab lunch, or even a nicer dinner at the Three Canyons Restaurant.

The HOA dues are not terrible compared to many other places. The south side of the Ranches is more family oriented, with fewer restrictions with the CC&R's, the houses on the golf courses have the most restrictions.

Biggest complaint. They don't plow the roads enough in the winter months and not all of them are paved, and the dirt road ones can get pretty ugly when they are not plowed. They are especially bad about plowing on Sundays, as in some Sundays they don't plow at all. If you happen to be on the bus route that's a good thing, those roads get plowed first. Something to think about when choosing a house.

There's other good things other than golf. They have pickleball courts, two pools, a brand new clubhouse that I think they are getting pool tables for and other games. They do fun karaoke nights and pot lucks (in normal times) dances etc. There are definitely more retirees and activities in the summer months when all the snow birds come back again. You won't be lacking for friends if you so desire to have them.

If you or your wife is into reading the Thayne library has an active book club that I am a part of. We meet once a month currently through zoom, but previously it was always in person. Great group of people, mostly retired.

I am not sure what else to tell you. We are very happy here on the Ranches. If you want any more information feel free to DM me.
