Default First Thunderstorm of the Season

...Just went overhead - hail, some fierce lightning, a fine anvil cloud with a couple of timid and weak funnel clouds - only to have a tornado on the ground by Evansville. Mother Nature is starting the season off with a bang

I love thunderstorms as well...and the rain was quite refreshing. I am the nunk who is out with a camera during a tornado...except at night, they bother me then, for you can't tell whether it's coming or going. I don't think it was much of one here...the storm didn't look that strong or developed to produce anything beyond an F1 - if even that. Still...the lightning was nice, hail was small, and winds weren't too daft...

Is a nice strong drizzle (as opposed to the dreaded downpours) right now (2100 hr tonite). I heard 1 what I THOUGHT was a thunderclap. That is one thing I miss about southeast Wyo - good storms but they can keep the 'nados. I lived in nado country for 25 years. That was long enuff - HATE the dang things. We nearly NEVER even get an overhead funnel cloud in Cody. YEAH!!

In the Casper Star-Tribune, they stated that a tornado was on the ground in south-central Casper off of Wyoming Boulevard but no damage was reported from it; there was golf-sized hail. Odd. Typical Wyoming weather - snow forecasted for this night.

Weird, but most welcomed! A couple of years ago there was a thunderstorm the beginning of February - caused a weak tornado to touch down outside of Gillette...but the thunder and lighting during the snow was amazing.

Allegedly, the tornado yesterday picked up a car and tossed it around, but the driver wasn't injured. It's not often to have a tornado in Casper, but not unheard of either.

Lots of rain today in Gillette. And yesterday. Things are greening up so nicely. I hope we have a sunny day tomorrow though so I can pull up a few dandelions before they get out of control.

I do love a good thunderstorm...

I do love rain and it's good to hear for Gillette. We had rain most of the afternoon and another storm is veering in from the west - small hail is forecasted for this eve. I can nearly smell it! The tulips have exploded in the garden, more daffodils as well.

Casper just looks so much greener (and cleaner) after the last two days of rain!

It smells so good, too!

I always love it when it snows in May...[dripping with sarcasm] I'm so close to planting my garden, but I'm holding off because I KNOW there's going to be snow!

I was going to do some gardening and landscaping today....but the rain kept me indoors (my house needed some spring cleaning anyway!)
