I find myself traveling the length of I-80 about 6 times a year. I am uncomfortable with not having any cellular data for most of the trip (the Cheyenne and Laramie areas being the only coverage).

Can anyone direct me to a provider or plan that will get me coverage for all, or at least most of the drive?

Thanks in advance.

Likely the best Wyoming area coverage is Union Wireless, followed by Verizon.

I use Verizon and have seen times where Union Wireless will deliver a signal while Verizon is weak.

I tried T-mobile a few years ago and it wasn’t useable in the wide-open spaces of Wyoming.

I have Verizon and found lots of dead spots along I-80. The fact is that area is sparsely populated and there are going to be dead spots.

Would a satellite phone work for you?

I have no personal experience with the above, I post it as an example.

Union Telephone (Union Wireless) is a partner to AT&T and HQ'd in Mountain View. So you have coverage across I-80 , and they show 4G LTE across I-80 as much as anyone has. VZW shos coverage across I-80 but I have enver checked it end to end.

You might consider an in-car signal booster to help; just google for that phrase.

Do the fast food joints and/or Truck stops offer WiFi along the I80 corridor?

Pretty much so.

In my traveling salesman days in the region, the “Golden Arches” represented a place where I could park my RV in the parking lot near the building and file my sales contracts with the manufacturers. Of course, you had to deal with the ads they set up to the service.

As well, many of the small town libraries along the I80 corridor have WiFi service 24/7. I’ve parked outside and gotten good signals ... even late at night and/or when the library was closed.

More recently, however, I’ve been able to use Verizon along most of I80 without problems, and for my friends using Union Wireless, they appear to have more complete coverage along I80.

Have had Iridium since the early 00's. Works pretty good even in wilds of northern Quebec and now aboard ship off Bermuda.
