I've lived just about all over the state and testing well water is sound advice. I don't care if you are from Wheatland, Gillette, Sheridan, or wherever. You know to test water if it's between 0 and 50 it's considered soft. Anything above 50 is hard. When I lived in Gillette, after going through a softener, it was still around 200. Same with Sheridan if you are East of town. West of town the elevation is higher and it's not so bad, but it's still not good. So yes, by all means, test your water.

I know of several ranchers that have dug deep to bring up water. They water their cattle with it and still drive in with their big tanks in the back of a pickup truck and purchase water. In Sheridan, the water is excellent, but for some reason, you drop a well a mile out of town and it's terrible.
